WebDec 8, 2024 · The stock Fiber cam / steel crank timing gear set is of course the quietest and also the weakest, the second quietest timing set is the Aluminum cam / steel crank gear set, last is the steel / steel combo. You could also have an extra key slot or more cut on the gear or use an offset key. Good luck on the 4x4.

WebMay 16, 2006 · Started to remove the crank gear today to install an adjustable timing set... and to my surprise the two holes in the crank gear for the puller bolts aren't threaded. The Chilton's manual clearly shows using a 2-bolt type gear puller [Ford part T85P-6316-D] but only says "use gear puller to remove" and nothing else. WebNov 20, 2005 · The timing marks are dots on the crank and cam gear, all you do is align the dots. Also be very care full replacing the cam as you don't want to mark up the cam bearings. Use a torque wrench (and blue locktite), if you have one on the cam retaining bolts. Thats the basics, look it up before you start. Bob/stractor

A 2.5 inch exhaust is plenty big enough for a stock or mildly modded engine and it will fit in the stock location all the way back.
